Become a Foster for the ASCMV

They’re not asking for forever, just right now.

Kitten season is here, and ASCMV is seeing a major increase in kittens coming into our care, including very young bottle babies who need around-the-clock support.

We urgently need kitten fosters and bottle-baby fosters to help us get these fragile animals out of the shelter and into safe, temporary homes where they can grow, stabilize, and thrive. If you are already an approved foster and can take additional kittens right now, please reach out.

We also need dog and puppy fosters. Our dog kennels are over capacity, and even a short-term foster home can make a huge difference. Fostering gives dogs and puppies a break from the shelter, reduces stress, opens kennel space for incoming animals, and helps us learn more about each animal so we can better match them with adopters.

Fostering does not have to be forever. Sometimes a few days, a weekend, or a couple of weeks is enough to change an animal’s path.

Community members interested in fostering can find information and the foster application at ascmv.org under the “How to Help” section. You may also contact our Foster Coordinator directly at 575-640-2433 for help or more information.

We are grateful for every foster family and community member who steps up when animals need them most. Your support gives animals comfort, safety, and a better chance at finding their way home or into a new family.

They’re not asking for forever, just right now.

By becoming a foster you can provide a safe environment for a homeless pet while they await their forever family.

Animal foster families save lives, encourage playful, healthy, and friendly atmospheres. We’ll provide everything you need to care for your foster you just have to supply the love and attention.

If you are willing and able to care for a pet in need, please complete our foster application today.

I found an animal, can I foster them?

Any animal brought to the shelter that is found and the finder wants to hold onto it, will be vaccinated and microchipped (if none found). The animal and finder will be entered into our database as a foster. If an owner does not claim the animal in the hold period, the foster has the option to adopt, continue to foster or turn the pet over to the ASCMV.

Thank you foster families of ASCMV, we really appreciate your continued dedication, hard work and humane care.
