Field Trip Program

Shelter dogs are stepping out, and it’s changing lives! The ASCMV Field Trip Program gives community members the opportunity to take shelter dogs on fun and fulfilling field trips.

Outings can last from one hour to all day and can include activities like- scenic hikes, visiting pet-friendly breweries, coffee shops and restaurants, or just relaxing at home! You can also extend it to a sleepover (pending approval). Whether you already have a dog or aren’t ready for the commitment, it’s a perfect way to enjoy some canine companionship!

This program reduces kennel stress for the animals while also providing enrichment and increases adoptable dogs’ visibility. Outings give the shelter valuable insight into how dogs behave outside of the shelter environment. It’s also a great excuse to spend a day exploring Las Cruces and discovering new spots with a furry friend!

  • Each week, 5-10 dogs will be selected by staff to participate in field trips (available dogs will be listed on our JotForm calendar).
  • Dog pick-up: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
